Occupy London - four months on and this is only the beginning.

Your money helped bail out some UK Big Banks. Do they know it isn’t Christmas?
London, United Kingdom, January 28, 2012Banks are lending very little to help the real economy – businesses and mortgages – but there are no shortages of bonuses for top executives. Huge payments to lobbying firms at home and in the US (whose activities are not covered by the Freedom of Information Act) have been used to influence policies that may curtail the financial sector’s licence to cream.

Occupy LSX loses Court battle to stay but gets congratulations from the Judge
London, United Kingdom, January 20, 2012Nobody expected the Occupy the London Stock Exchange campsite at St Paul’s Cathedral courtyard to win the Court Case for eviction brought about by the almighty City of London Corporation. However the support the Occupiers got from unexpected quarters points to some awareness that actually, they may be a real ray of hope in a crumbling system.

The migration tide turns, again. Latin America, one of the favourite destinations

When Latin Americans travelled back to Europe running away from military dictatorships and economic debacles the walls came up in “fortress Europe”. OccupyLSX High Court hearing concludes – No decision until Jan 11th
London, United Kingdom, December 30, 2011After four and a half days of representations from the City of London Corporation, Occupy London (represented by John Cooper QC and Michael Paget on behalf of named defendant Tammy Samede) and two litigants in person, George Barda and Daniel Ashman, the OccupyLSX hearing has concluded at the High Court with Christmas wishes being given to and by all concerned.

Argentina's Government encourages measures to broaden connectivity and new technologies

The boost to the manufacturing of laptops in the productive pole of Tierra del Fuego province, the programme My PC and the rise of the national production of software paved the way for an increase in the connectivity access to almost 60 percent of the inhabitants of the country.

Legal proceedings to evict the Occupy London Stock Exchange and Bank of Ideas begin with a public (well, almost) hearing
London, United Kingdom, December 20, 2011A tiny courtroom was yesterday the scene of the first of a four day hearing to decide if the City of London can evict the Occupy LSX campsite by St Paul’s Cathedral. At the same time a breather was given to the protesters as the Judge dealing with UBS (which used to mean Union Bank of Switzerland) request to vacate the Bank of Ideas postponed the case till January.

Rioters, protesters and terrorists. Semantic violence at its most provocative

The simplicity of the bipolar Cold War is no more. A study carried out by the Guardian and the LSE showed that in some cases the recent UK riots was a protest of sorts, whilst the police qualify the Occupy protesters as terrorists.

US Senate debating law to censor Internet, effectively, at world level. Avaaz Campaign.
Washington, United States, November 30, 2011Unlike Internet censorship in China or Iran - which the US denounces vociferously - the fact that the US is such a hub of servers for the whole world means that any censorship to its cyberspace has worldwide repercussions. We report here on a campaign by Avaaz to resist new censorship legislation at present being debated in the Senate.

Britain heading for another recession but £2 billion for nuclear weapons, in spite of pledge to wait till the next election

The City versus the tented city of Occupy London - trial date set for 19 December

The Empire Strikes Back. Moves to evict #Occupations begin in several countries

How to discourage UK students from protesting against trebling of tuition fees

Nonviolent protesters arrested in Jeju Island (South Korea) for opposing Naval Base

Archbishop of Canterbury backs FTT/Tobin/Robin Hood-Tax as St Paul’s and the City of London put Occupy eviction on hold
London, United Kingdom, November 2, 2011Dr Rowan Williams said the levy would be one way of advancing the "moral agenda" of the protesters outside St Paul's. The Cathedral has cancelled attempts to evict the campsite. The City of London Corporation has put on hold proceedings and expressed an intention to open negotiations. Will the G20 listen to the voices of common sense?
